For victims of natural disasters or homelessness, the ability to fill a home with the basic necessities of living is as important, and difficult, as finding a home itself.

CARITAS is the only furniture bank helping needy families in Central Virginia. It has provided beds to nearly 2000 children since 2010- that is more than the student population of SIX SEPARATE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. The furniture bank provides other household essentials (valued at over $1,000,000) to nearly 800 families annually who are struggling to overcome homelessness. In addition to facilitating long-term stability, the CARITAS Furniture Bank also helps the environment by receiving, repairing, and dispersing over 180 tons of reusable goods and materials (that would have otherwise gone to landfills) to qualified individuals and families in need.
