Program & Services
When single adults and families come to CARITAS, they are immediately surrounded by a host of volunteers, staff, and case managers. These volunteers and staff first meet their emergency needs of food and shelter before working individually with each client to break down the barriers standing between themselves and self-sufficiency.
CARITAS guests stay free of charge for 120 days or more, and are provided the following:
Through host congregations:
- Overnight shelter from early evening to early morning
- Hot breakfast, bagged lunch, and hearty dinner each day
- Laundry, showers, and toiletries
- Evening fellowship and activities...unique to each congregation
- Love and support of people living out their faith through service
By CARITAS staff, partners, and programs:
- Individual case management to all willing clients to work through the unique legal, medical, mental, financial, and/or emotional causes of homelessness
- Substance abuse counseling through a staff-sharing agreement with several partner agencies
- Escrow account in which clients save 75% of all income earned while their needs are being met at CARITAS
- Peer support in a group setting
- Assistance in locating and securing housing
